The Big Tour - Day 14 - Friday 10th Feb - Borneo (KK)

Last breakfast and check out, they had the chocolate pastries again, wolfed those down!!

Very quick taxi and then sat waiting for flight

We got through security fine but they’re quite strict on the baggage weight so we had to remove some but they don’t weight our cabin rucksack and hand luggage luckily as it’s way over the allowance!!

We had 2 flights today, 1hr to KL and then 3hrs to KK from KL

I keep getting a bit stressed when queuing to get on the plane as they keep mentioning hand luggage restrictions and weights but when you actually show the boarding pass to get on the plane there’s no checks.

On the flight to KK Tash and I were on separate seats and row and the flight was absolutely rammed so we weren’t able to swap. Not the end of the world but not ideal either.

Caught up with my diary so I was happy when we got off the plane. What I wasn’t happy about though was  seeing the mountain out my window coming in, it’s absolutely huge. I cannot believe I am going to get up that!! We got through passport control and our bags no problem, then got a Grab to our hotel.

Found a bit of a gem with this one, we were dropped off in quite a scary, rough looking area and up dingy staircase and then shown our room which was absolutely lovely. I was getting constant messages from the host and they could not have been more accommodating if they’d tried, incredible service.

We didn’t unpack, there was no need to as we were leaving at 4.30am and our bags had got through the weight limits so best not to tamper with them.

We went out and headed for a street market, interesting experience outside our hotel area as there were projector screens set up with movies and loads of people out eating street food and we had to walk through them all. No European faces to be seen, was definitely a very local area.

We found the street market and it was just stalls and stalls of food, so much choice. We had a combination of fun fries (cheesy chips), corn on the cob and chicken bbq kebab from different stalls.

Not much else to do as it was quite late so back to hotel and get some sleep after setting out alarm for 4.00am!!

So a day of travel more than anything really.
