Bit of a heavy head this morning - nothing too bad though. Got ourselves sorted and Wayne came through with croissants and coffee which was very welcome.
Spa day today!
Set off on our way and although it was a straightforward main road in theory, we kept taking detours - which is half the joy of walking around a city like this. Amazing buildings everywhere. Passed the Opera House and there was a guy outside drawing a lot of interest so we had a nosy - no idea who he was though. Walked past a Jewish memorial, then had a random comment on my Middle Earth hiking club t-shirt which made me laugh.
On to Heroes’ Square and then up to the castle - absolutely loved that. It was a proper old school fairy castle with a moat and drawbridge, it was spectacular!
From there we wandered through the park for a while, stopping for beers at a café. Then it was finally time for the spa… and wow - that was fantastic.
Got in, changed and straight into the pools and spas.
Outside it was a bit of a chill wind but the sun kept trying to break through. The main spa was 38 degrees - incredibly hot. Really busy in there and plenty of drinking going on but we took it fairly easy.
Sauna, plunge pool… repeat. Then into the beer bath - our own tap and a few pints each! Back outside again and stayed another hour just drifting between pools. Brilliant fun.
Eventually we dragged ourselves away and meandered back in the general direction of home - again taking a big detour of course. Indian restaurant for dinner which was very nice, then carried on and found ourselves on a familiar road and stopped for beers in a pub serving those huge litre glasses, Id had my eye on one of those the whole time we've been here.
By now it was getting late. On the way back we grabbed chimney cakes — cinnamon and coconut — unreal.
Couple of beers from the local shop… just two, not four!! 🤣🤣
Back to the apartment, more beers, a few games of cards and then to bed about 1.00am.
What a great and memorable day.
