The Queen is dead, long live the King

It’s happened, Queen Elizabeth 2nd died yesterday in Balmoral, Scotland. Throughout the day there was serious speculation because all the Royal family were making their way up there. 

Then around 5.00pm (when they’d all gathered) the announcement came and the world was made aware that she’d died in the afternoon. She was 96 and had just had her 70 Jubilee celebrations. 

As can be expected everything has gone into meltdown with social media, tv and events like football this weekend being cancelled. 

It’s sad of course and she was clearly a very influential person. The commentators on tv and radio are really going overboard and there’s only so many times you can hear people saying how they are affected by it. It feels like a “duty” to be sad. I’d prefer the opposite happens, make it a celebration of her life. But that’s just me.
