Woke up early but so nice not to be bursting for a wee or have a hangover!! Sad but that’s the usual feeling when camping!!
Took Bess out for a quick walk and then had a very nice (healthy) breakfast before potting around for a bit. Went into Braunton to get some cash for the car-park and then drove down to Saunton Sands – it doesn’t change, thankfully, and we parked up and made it down to the beach. It was nice weather, very hot, and a little more crowded than it has been on the webcams that I’ve been looking at in the last couple of days.
Set up and simply sat on the beach relaxing and reading, managed to get through most of the Private Eye magazine for the first time ever!! It does wind me up because it highlights all the injustices and cheating that’s going on in public life, everyone is on the make and ripping off the tax-payer in the main! Anyway, it was nice and easy but very hot, although the sea breeze was good.
We went out to the sea after an hour or so and Bess absolutely loved it, straight in the sea, no fear and jumping over and through the waves, Tash and I took it in turns to go in on the body board and I was amazed at how warm the sea was. I really don’t want to sound like someone we know “warmest ever!”, but I genuinely can’t think of a time and place in the UK when the sea has been that warm, it was so surprising. Didn’t do much else other than relax, catch up on social media and read (or eat and drink!)
Back in the sea for a second time and this time because it was coming in we didn’t have to go the half bloody mile to get wet and the waves were a lot better and higher and more fun!
That was it, packed up and made our way home for about 7.00pm! Some new neighbours had turned up with loads of kids playing football but it was fine and we had a couple of drinks and a nice dinner. Walked the dog, wrote this diary entry and then off to bed for about 10.30pm!
It was actually really quite cold last night which surprised us – had to snuggle together for warmth!!
